I've pressed the pause button. I've lost two people from my life over the past couple of weeks who have had lasting impacts on me. One, in the winter season of her life, passed from a long illness. The other, in the late summer of her life, passed from the unnatural interloper of cancer.
This Spring, mixed emotions are stirred. This recent time has compelled me to pause and ponder...
T.S. Eliot's masterpiece, "The Wasteland."
April is the cruelest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with Spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers...
I had not thought death had undone so many.
